Sonia Peruzzo

She graduated with honors from the "C. Pollini" Conservatory of Music in Padua, subsequently winning numerous national and international competitions.

She made her operatic debut as Adina in L'elisir d'amore at the Teatro Comunale in Adria and the Teatro Comunale in Lonigo, under the baton of Maestro Fabbri. Within the Circuito Lirico Veneto, she performed the roles of Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Norina (Don Pasquale), and Musetta (La Bohème)—roles she would frequently reprise at prestigious venues and festivals, including the Bassano Opera Festival, Teatro Ventidio Basso in Ascoli Piceno, Mantua, Pergine, and the Festival Comunale in Adria.

She starred as the protagonist at the 8th International Hermitage Chamber Music Festival "Palaces of St. Petersburg" (Russia), performing the role of Serpina in Pergolesi's La serva padrona and appearing in numerous concerts. In 2001, she performed Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Amina in La sonnambula in Mantua, and appeared as the soprano soloist in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana at the Teatro Verdi in Padua, receiving widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics.

During a concert tour of Japan, she gave a series of recitals in Tokyo and Osaka. At the Bassano Festival, she sang Musetta in La Bohème conducted by Giampaolo Soliman, a production she later reprised at the Teatro Ventidio Basso in Ascoli Piceno under the baton of Maestro Marcello Rota.

In July 2003, she attended the Rossini Opera Academy led by Maestro Alberto Zedda, subsequently making her debut at the Pesaro Rossini Opera Festival as Madama Cortese in Il viaggio a Reims. At the Teatro de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, she debuted as Rosalie in Rossini's L'equivoco stravagante, conducted by Alberto Zedda and directed by Emilio Sagi.

Her Mozartian repertoire includes debuts as Despina in Così fan tutte and Zerlina in Don Giovanni. She has appeared as the soprano soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania (conducted by Massimiliano Martinenghi), the Teatro Comunale di Modena, and the Teatro Verdi in Padua. She performed the title role in Donizetti's Rita in Mantua, and during the Estate Fiesolana festival, she sang Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen, conducted by Maestro Boncompagni and later remounted under Michelangelo Balderi. Her regional highlights include performing Boccherini's Stabat Mater with the Orchestra Filarmonica del Veneto under Francesco Ivan Ciampa; Oscar in Un ballo in maschera at the Teatro Bellini in Catania (conducted by Stefano Ranzani) and at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa (conducted by Nicola Luisotti); and Gretel in a German-language production of Hänsel und Gretel at the Teatro Bellini in Catania, conducted by Fabrizio Maria Carminati.

Her extensive concert and sacred repertoire features: A. Salieri's La Passione di Gesù Cristo, Vivaldi's Laudate Pueri RV 601, and Psalm 112 for soprano and orchestra performed at the Pietà in Venice under Maestro Paolo Pagnin; Salieri's Gesù nel Limbo and Te Deum; and W.A. Mozart's Requiem, conducted by Maestro Fabbri and more recently by Maestro Lanaro. She also recorded Galuppi's oratorio Jephte e Helcana with the Malipiero Ensemble of Rovigo, conducted by Franco Piva, released on CD. Under the direction of Giampaolo Soliman, she performed G.B. Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the Serenade Chamber Orchestra, and she sang Mozart’s motet Exsultate, jubilate with the Malipiero Ensemble of Rovigo under Alessandro Ferrari in Treviso and Rovigo.

She portrayed Nedda in Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci in the production La commedia è finita alongside José Cura. She also starred in the show Puccini e la Luna, staged in Bari for the composer's centenary, as well as at the Tuscan Sun Festival in Cortona. In December, she took part in the inaugural gala of the Teatro Comunale di Vicenza, hosted by Milly Carlucci. Other notable engagements include Gilda in Donizetti's Don Gregorio at the Teatro Bellini in Catania (directed by Renato Recchia, conducted by F.M. Carminati) and Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice (directed by Francesco Esposito, conducted by Aldo Sisillo).

She returned to the role of Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Lapedona Festival (directed by M. Ommassini), sang Gilda in Rigoletto for a new Veneto regional tour, and performed under the baton of Maestro Zubin Mehta in Richard Strauss's Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. In the autumn, she reprised Euridice in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, and during the winter season, she sang in a series of concerts for the Fondazione Arena di Verona conducted by Federico Fapanni—an artistic collaboration that continued into the following year. She also appeared in two additional productions of Carmina Burana in Grado and Pordenone, received the YPO Award in Dallas for best performances of the previous year, and performed in a concert series with the Orchestra Philharmonia Veneta under Massimo Salvemini.

She brought her signature role of Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) to Amsterdam under the baton of Stefano Seghedoni.

During the Verdi Bicentennial, she performed Nannetta in Falstaff, Oscar in Un ballo in maschera in Mantua, and sang in a symphonic gala dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste (conducted by Francesco Ommassini). She also reprised Serpina in Pergolesi's La serva padrona (conducted by Massimiliano Caldi) at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, sang Adina in L'elisir d'amore at the Teatro Verdi in Busseto (featuring sets by Fernando Botero, directed by Víctor García Sierra), and performed Rosina at the Oderzo Opera Festival. She was also featured as the guest soloist in a Gala Concert at Palazzo Colonna in Rome, conducted by Stefano Seghedoni.

More recently, she starred in a production of Die Zauberflöte at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino as the Queen of the Night (conducted by Massimiliano Caldi, directed by Pier Francesco Maestrini). Her latest roles include Clorinda in Rossini's La Cenerentola, Despina in Mozart's Così fan tutte in Mantua (conducted by Andrea Anselmi), the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor in Treviso, and Norina in Don Pasquale throughout the Ville Venete festival. In August, she sang Ninetta in Mozart’s La finta semplice, conducted by Massimiliano Caldi at the Gdansk Mozart Festival in Poland.

She recently reprised the roles of Serpina in La serva padrona and Gilda in Rigoletto under conductor Renzo Banzato. At the Cervinara Summer Festival (Naples), she starred as Violetta Valéry in Giuseppe Verdi’s La traviata, accompanied by the Orchestra of the Teatro di San Carlo under Francesco Di Mauro. For the grand opening of the Western China International Fair in Chengdu, she was invited to perform in the gala showcase Incantevole Italia before top-tier Italian and Chinese dignitaries, collaborating with the Orchestra of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and principal dancers from the Teatro alla Scala, under the direction of Stefano Mazzoleni.
