Krum Galabov

KRUM GALABOV is one of the most distinguished Bulgarian baritones, and has developed a significant operatic and concert career in Europe and elsewhere in recent years.

Krum’s love of singing began when he was a child and sung as a boy treble. Later, at the age of eighteen and by now a baritone, he won the top scholarship at the International Music Academy in Varna, and followed this with study at the Vienna College of Music and Performing arts. At this time he was also contracted at the Burgtheater in Vienna.
His professional career has included performances of many of the major baritone operatic roles. His Verdi repertoire includes Iago (Otello), Rigoletto, Renato (Ballo), Amonasro (Aida), Germont (Traviata), Posa (Don Carlo), Luna (Trovatore), Ezio (Attila) and Nabucco. Puccini roles include Marcello, Scarpia, Sharpless and Frank (Edgar). Krum’s verismo roles have featured Gerard (Chénier), Tonio and Silvio in I Pagliacci, Alfio (Cavalleria Rusticana) and Gellner (La Wally). Bel canto repertoire includes Belcore (L’elisir), Enrico (Lucia) and Riccardo (I Puritani). Amongst Krum’s Russian roles are Onegin as well as Yeletski and Tomski (Pique Dame).

Krum Galabov’s guest performances have taken him to opera houses, concert halls and festivals in Bulgaria, Italy, Austria, Germany, Russia, South Korea, Japan, China, Brasil and Argentina.
